At the Civic Center we will see the Pink House, the Cabildo building (where the administration during the Spanish colony was located), the Plaza de Mayo (May Square) and the Metropolitan Cathedral. There we will see the homage that the Catholic Church made to the Jewish community. It consists of two glass plates between which there are prayer book pages rescued from the ruins of Treblinka and Auschwitz concentration camps and the Warsaw ghetto. There is also a Kadish score and two book covers: one is a book of tales in Yiddish found under the rubble of the AMIA building (the JCC that was bombed in 1994) and the other one is the Book of Samuel found while looking for survivors, after the Israeli Embassy exploded. All these buildings surround the Plaza de Mayo (May Square). We will continue going along the Mayo Avenue, where the Tortoni café, the oldest in town, is located. Afterwards we will continue to the National Congress of Argentina.

After lunch we will visit the cemetery of Recoleta, home to the grave of Evita Perón and most of the forefathers of Argentina.

Free day for your leisure + Tango Stravaganza

Shacharit at La Cava (The Brick hotel) at 9.15 am.

Valeria Duek will be at the hotel to give you orientation and suggestions on your day free.

Our suggestions: weekends are very interesting and busy in Buenos Aires. In San Telmo neighborhood, there is an outdoor antique fair at Dorrego Square. It’s a district full of antique stores, art galleries and parlors where you can find souveniers to take back home.

Recoleta quarter is definitely another interesting option. You will find tango dancers, musicians and other artists on the streets. We recommend visiting the Recoleta Cultural Centre and the Fine Arts National Museum. The Recoleta handicraft fair is the best in town.

In Puerto Madero we find the Faena Universe,  a very exclusive boutique hotel that usually hosts celebrities. It was decorated by the architect Phillipe Stark.

The Palermo Soho district blossoms on weekends. Stores with avant-garde design, exquisite cafes and fancy restaurants will make your journey more enjoyable. Nowadays it is the preferred spot for fashionable travelers in Buenos Aires. This neighborhood, once a run-down place full of warehouses, factories, and tiny, decaying homes as recently as 15 years ago, has been transformed into one of the city’s most chic venues.

Once you walk through Palermo Soho and begin to absorb its charms - cobblestone streets, enormous oak-tree canopies, and low-rise buildings giving a clear view to the open skies, you’ll start wondering why it had been forgotten for so many years. You will find a variety of art galleries, independent designer shops, the hippest restaurants and bars and the trendiest night clubs.

We will meet at the lobby at 7.00 pm go to downtown Buenos Aires to take a tango class followed by vegetarian dinner and a tango show at Tango Porteño.

Overnight at The Brick Hotel Buenos Aires MGallery Collection.

The capture of Eichmann tour, Delta of Tigre, Seminario Rabínico Latinoamericano, Chessed activity at Ledor Vador  Nursing Home .

Shacharit at La Cava (The Brick hotel) at 7.45 am.

We will leave the hotel at 9.00 am sharp.
After breakfast, we will visit the Delta of Tigre (30 kilometers away from Buenos Aires). On the way to Tigre we will learn about the capture of Eichmann, who was captured by the Mossad agents a few meters from his home on Garibaldi street, in San Fernando, a suburb of Buenos Aires.
At the delta we will take a boat ride (one hour).

Back to the city of Buenos Aires, we will have lunch and then we will take a visit to the Latin America Rabbinical Seminar “Rab. Marshall T. Meyer”, Masorti, founded in 1963.

Back to the hotel at 4.15 pm, we will get ready for the Chessed activity at Ledor Vador Nursing Home.

The bus to Ledor Vador Nursing home will leave at 5.30 pm.

Ledor Vador is the most modern nursing home in the country. Over half of the population of this home is supported by donations of contributors.

Led by the residents of Ledor Vador, the BJ’s visitors will learn how to make empanadas and alfajores.

(Alfahores: made with two round cookies with parve dulce de leche/caramel filling between them).
